We are very fortunate to be joined for a double headline event, with sets from both Tom McConville and Martyn Wyndham Read.
Tom’s live performances combine a rollercoaster of musical delights from fast, rhythmic dance tunes – through beautiful slow airs and of course, great singing – all presented with his inimitable sense of humour and style.
“A sandpaper-dry wit, eye-watering skill on the fiddle, great vocals… you just can’t help feeling that a performance by Tom is like visiting an old friend” was one description of his performance. Renowned for his musical accompaniments, Tom has played on literally hundreds of albums. The list includes: Barbara Dixon, Richard Thompson, Allan Taylor and Lindisfarne.
English by birth Martyn Wyndham-Read first developed his great love of Folk Music in the Outback of Australia when he went to work on a sheep station. He gained first-hand experience of life as a bush worker, at the same time falling in love with Australia & it’s music. After 7 yrs. down under he returned home to England where his dedication to the songs he sings has not diminished over the yrs. Concert tours spreading his style of music to the far corners of the world became his way of life. His music encompasses both traditional & contemporary music much of it Australian.
This event takes place in the usual room at the Bird in Hand on Thursday 1st August.
Doors open at 7.30pm, show starts 8pm. Book tickets here.<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/tom-mcconville-martyn-wyndham-read-tickets-63424240611>
